Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans
Functional behavior assessments (FBA) are offered to help determine why problem behaviors occur, what settings they occur in, what environmental factors maintain these behaviors, and to aid in the development of a Behavior Intervention Plan.
Individualized Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) are designed to increase desired proactive behaviors including language and social skills while reducing inappropriate maladaptive behaviors such as tantrums, self-directed behavior, and aggressive behaviors.
Skills Based Developmental Assessments: ABLLS-R, VB-MAPP, and AFLS
ABLLS-R: is an assessment tool, curriculum guide, and skills-tracking system used to help guide the instruction of language and critical learner skills for children with autism or other developmental disabilities. The assessment results allow parents and professionals to pinpoint obstacles that have been preventing a child from acquiring new skills and to develop a comprehensive, highly personalized, language-based curriculum.
VB-MAPP: The VB-MAPP is a criterion-referenced assessment tool, curriculum guide, and skill tracking system that is designed for children with autism, and other individuals who demonstrate language delays. The assessment results allow parents and professionals to pinpoint obstacles that have been preventing a child from acquiring new skills and to develop a comprehensive, highly personalized, language-based curriculum.
AFLS: The AFLS is an assessment protocol that assesses functional, practical, and essential skills of everyday life. Basic Living Skills, Home Skills, Community Participation Skills, School Skills, Independent Living Skills, and Vocational Skills are assessed individually and goals for maximizing a learner’s freedom, independence, and opportunities are identified.
